Injuries by Flogging

Injury by Hammer

Thumb got Trapped

The worker was trying to remove an isolation spade from between two 8" flanges and was busy tightening up stud bolts with a slogging spanner. While striking the spanner with the hammer, he missed the spanner instead hit his finger causing this injury. The image displays the effect of misplaced sledge hammer blow when hand was left exposed near the impact zone. Nail had to be drilled to relieve the pressure within the finger. This particular injury happened when a worker's thumb was trapped between the heavy duty spanner and a heat exchanger door whilst trying to loosen 50mm diameter stud bolts. Pinch points are deadly and harmful like a hammer blow.
